Favorable Reports on Two Sagadahoc Ferry Proposals
Senate Ways and Bridges Committee reports favoring Sagadahoc County aid to maintain a ferry across Ferrymeeting Bay with a $1,000 appropriation and compliance with statute. Also proposed is $30,000 for construction or purchase of a new slip and approaches for the People's Ferry Co. operating the Kennebec River route between Bath and Woolwich, contingent on raising at least $35,000. A permanent People's Ferry Commission, including two local residents, would oversee operation and funding.

A new draft updates state highway funding and mill tax provisions, removing governor approval for federal aid use and setting a $500,000 annual construction target for 1917 with funds rolling forward.
