LeRoy C. Percy 71 a former Bath resident and editor publisher of the Brighton Pittsford Post East Rochester Herald and Penfield Republican died March 6 after a heart attack. Born in Salem Mass he lived in Bath and Rochester later leading three newspapers from 1942 to 1956 and later ran a public relations firm with his wife Esther who was associate editor. He held multiple press affiliations and community roles including Brighton Memorial Library Brighton Chamber of Commerce Kiwanis Pittsford Rotary and Sigma Delta Chi. Survivors include his widow two daughters Janet Bragg of Boston Elaine Wilson and three grandchildren Alan Deborah and David Wilson.
Mr and Mrs Thomas Watson visited Bath Brunswick Alna and Whitefield Monday. Dennis Moore Jr is home with chicken pox. Barbara Calloway of Five Islands and Willis Randall of Bath wed at Rev Dr Oliver Bell in Bath. Harold Pinkham shoveled at 4 am after Thursday’s blizzard to take riders to the Iron Works. New bride Barbara Calloway and Willis Randall plan Bath residence.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Sturte vant of Old South Place are spending a few days in Boston, making a short visit to the city.
Mrs Maud W Haile 73 a former Bath resident died at her East Brunswick home after a brief illness She was wife of Jerry L Haile born Thorndike Oct 4 1885 daughter of Edward and Ella Ware She lived in Bath from 1918 to 1925 later moving to Brunswick She was a member of Hawthorne Chapter O E S and West Bath Grange Survived by husband two sons Joseph Charles North Hollywood Calif Roger Ware Haile French Morocco a brother Charles Ware Unity a sister Jennie Vose Linden N J and two grandchildren
Alfred L. Hutchings 66 formerly of Bath died Monday morning at his Brunswick home after a brief illness. A World War I veteran, he worked 22 years at the Hyde Windlass Co. and lived in Bath and Brunswick 23 years. Survived by his wife Marion, a son William of Lewiston, two nieces and a nephew. Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. from Clark-Mitchell Funeral Home Bucksport. burial in Spring. Born Thomaston December 12, 1892.
Death notice for Mrs Orinda Thompson formerly Orinda Staples of Bath and widow of Roscoe P Ham once Bath city editor. She passed away Saturday at St Vincent s Hospital Staten Island New York.
Funeral service for Mrs Maud W Haile who died Monday evening at her East Brunswick home will be held Saturday at 2 pm from the Thorndike Village Congregational church Thorndike. Burial will be in the Thorndike cemetery in the Spring. Friends may call at Brackett Funeral home Brunswick Friday from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services for John E. Sanford were conducted at 1.30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home of Leslie C. Shumway. The Rev. Warren B. Harris of Corliss Street Baptist church officiated. Entombment was at Oak Grove for burial in the Spring.
Miss Joan Pouliot daughter of Mr and Mrs Antonio Pouliot of 31 Robinson Lane is named to the dean's list for the first semester at Ricker College Houlton She is a junior majoring in liberal arts at the college
Funeral services for Chris Sirmopoulos known as Honest Danny Needham were held in Lowell Mass. He was a Bath Maine resident and former welder at Bath Iron Works. Survived by mother and three siblings, his boxing career included Maine New England titles and a ring partnership with Billy Conn.
John E. Sanford, 79, of 82 High Street Bath, died suddenly Sunday. Born December 5, 1879 in Bath, he worked as a mould maker, then at General Electric in Lynn, later at Hyde Windlass Co. until 1947. Survived by daughter Edna Thompson, Bath. son George A. Sanford, Dresden. five grandchildren. two cousins. Funeral Tuesday 1.30 p.m. at Leslie C. Shumway Funeral Home. Burial at Oak Grove in spring. Friends may visit Monday.
Willis C. Dunning 69 of 25 Washington street died suddenly at home Thursday. Born May 2 1889 on an American ship he was son of Sylvester and Elizabeth Stover Dunning. Survived by widow Edith M Thurston Dunning and several nieces and nephews. Dartmouth College graduate 1912. Former superintendent with International Elevating Co New York retired to Bath in 1943. In last decade he ran a store at 58 Washington street.
