A 24 million dollar self liquidating bond issue for University of Maine student and faculty housing moves through the Maine Legislature. The bill, designed to lend the state credit to the university, would be funded by dormitory fees and rentals, not taxpayers, with a referendum required for final approval.

Arthur L. Haskins will speak at the Bath lodge of Elks on organizing and sponsoring a Boy Scout troop. He and his committee are contacting local civic groups to sponsor additional troops as local Scouting participation trails the national average. Lodge officers for the coming year will be nominated. final election is set for the second meeting of the month.
Funeral services for Mrs. James E. Perkins were conducted Wednesday at Simmons and Harrington Funeral Home Boothbay Harbor. Rev Katherine Weed of East Boothbay Methodist Church officiated. Bearers included J Arthur Stevens James P Stevens Hirman C Stevens Robert D Stevens and Hiram A Tobey with burial planned at Oak Cemetery Georgetown Center in the spring.
Funeral service for Mrs Gertrude L Hunt was held at A F Mayo Son funeral residence Sunday at 1 30 pm with Rev Gerald Swetnam of Topsham Baptist church officiating. Bearers were Melvin Davis Harold Willis Hiram Russell F Leroy Powers George Flynn and Albert Smith Entombment followed at Oak Grove for burial at Oak Cemetery Georgetown

Funeral service for Mrs. Bella A. Overlock was held Sunday at 3 30 p m from A F Mayo Son funeral residence with Rev Frederick L Niles of Beacon Street Methodist church officiating. Bearers were John H Overlock Frederick Morton Emery Overlock Philip Overlock Ronald Dube and Loren Overlock Jr Interment was at Oak Grove for burial at Mt Hope cemetery Augusta in the spring.
Mrs. Bella A. Overlock 43 of 1538 Washington street died at home Friday after a long illness. Born May 29 1915 in St Francis she was daughter of Victor and Stella Dube. Survived by husband Lee four sons Earl Lawrence Maynard and Carl all of Bath three daughters Gloria Carol and Diane of Bath mother one brother Ronald Dube of Augusta two sisters Mrs Warren Raynes Casper Wyoming and Mrs Galen Harvey St Francis. Lived in Bath since 1942 coming from Augusta.
Debra Jo Brown daughter of Francis and Betsy Brown of 866 Washington street Cambridge died Monday at Holy Ghost hospital Cambridge Mass She was born March 15 1958 in Key West Florida Survived by her parents paternal grandparents Navy Chief and Mrs Robert Marty Key West Florida maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Francis Bertrand Bath This obituary notes the family details in a local death notice.
A memorial service for Cyril E. Bousfield M D was conducted at Woolwich Center Baptist Church with clergy from local Baptist churches and medical colleagues in attendance. The service featured Rev Gerald J Hersom Dr John S Pendleton Dr Elmer T Bentley and representatives from the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, with entombment at Oak Grove cemetery Bath to be followed by spring committal by Dunlap Commandery Knights Templar.
Funeral services for Mrs Elizabeth O Eaton were held at 9 a m Saturday at the Funeral Home of Leslie C Shumway. The Rev J Walter MacFarlane of St Charles Borromeo Brunswick officiated. Burial followed in Grove for Spring.
Funeral services for Elmer O. Swain were held at 1 30 p m Monday at Arthur F Mayo Son Funeral Residence The Rev Charles R Sims of First Baptist Church officiated at the Grove location.
Mrs Gertrude L Hunt aged 67 of Georgetown died Thursday after a long illness. Born in Topsham on November 26 1891 she was daughter of Frederick and Grace Ward. Survived by son Elwin L Henessey of Georgetown brother Harold Ward of Topsham sisters Mrs Clarence Haley of Topsham and Mrs Robert Blacks of Georgetown two grandchildren one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She lived in Georgetown two years and belonged to multiple civic and church groups in Topsham Brunswick. She ran a grocery and bakery in Topsham for many years.
Mrs Elizabeth O Eaton 49 died suddenly at her home on the old Bath road East Brunswick on March 4 She had lived in East Brunswick five years and was born in Bath June 24 1909 She was the daughter of Alexander and Olive Long Deejay Surviving are her mother two sisters a brother and several nieces
Elmer O. Swain 78 of West Bath died Friday morning at Augusta after a long illness. Born April 10, 1880 in Bristol he was a son of Robert M. and Grace Jones Swain. He leaves a son Clar ence Swain West Bath two daughters Leona MacDonald Bath and Mrs Herbert Galambos Woodridge N J a brother William Swain Waterville two granddaughters Mrs Wilter Hersom Wiscasset and Mrs Luella Wright Connecticut and several great grandchildren.
