Mayhew Lecture on Bird Life of Western Parks at Bowdoin

Nature lovers in Brunswick will attend the Mayhew Lecture at Bowdoin College on March 16. The Massachusetts state Ornithologist will present colored lantern slides about Bird Life of Our Western Parks, including Yosemite Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. John B. May M D prepared the related talk on Western National Parks. Bangor Teachers Club marks its 25th anniversary with a gathering at Bangor High School where Col Herbert Bowen spoke on Our National Defense in a clear engaging style.

Town Meeting Reelects Officials and Sets Budget

The annual town meeting at the town hall reelects Fred S. Bailey as moderator and treasurer. Richard L. Fowle Oliver P. Jewett and Maud E. Webber are kept on the select board with Jewett filling a school committee vacancy alongside Etta V. Lewis. Horace L. Jones is reelected road commissioner and constable, Ernest E. Colby remains town clerk. The town hall is auctioned for 125 dollars. Total appropriations fall $275 short of last year with 600 raised for State Aid Road. The town reports 934.98 in surplus and 1329.72 in resources, no liabilities.

Cony High to award modern red morocco diploma covers

Cony High School’s class of 1932 will receive a new tyre leather bound folding diploma at June commencement. The red morocco fabrikoid cover features a gold rayon lining and four corner bands in Cony colors, with the certificate folded inside the cover about the size of a text book.

Bath Hi Y Club Loses Game At Brunswick

The Bath Hi Y basketball team was edged by Brunswick 20 to 17 in a tight contest. Brunswick players hosted Bath at a lunch afterward with speakers from Brunswick and Morse high schools and Bath. Scallop boats on Monroe Island beds harvest limited catch with average price about 1.75 per gallon.

Dike School Pupils Conduct Musicale at PTA Meeting

The Dike PTA met with 35 members in the school teachers room for a musicale arranged by Principal Mrs. Bernice Staples and Miss Leona Huestis. Students from grades six and seven performed travel songs, melodies, a girl chorus, and pieces by Grieg, Woodbury, Hiller, and Rubinstein. Reports by secretary Mrs. Hoffman and treasurer Mrs. Mac Donad were read. plans were made for a Friday card party and a future performance of The Spinsters Convention.

Republican Caucus Elects Its Delegates in Portland

In City hall auditorium the Republican caucus elected 15 delegates and 15 alternates to State and First district conventions set for March 31 in Portland. About 50 attendees signed a Carlton for Governor enrollment, noting Sagadahoc County’s 111 years without a governor and highlighting F W Carlton of Woolwich. N Gratz Jackson presided, Arthur K Purington was secretary, and the delegates list by Alderman Ellery E Whittemore was unanimously accepted.

About 125 Morse High pupils rehearse daily in the auditorium under John H. Grindell for the 1932 Mohiba to be staged April 7 to 9 for the A.A.A. It promises a fresh production with tap dances sketches and musical numbers.

Sacred Heart Circle Elects Committees at First Meeting

Sacred Heart circle of the Daughters of Isabella held its first business meeting in the Knights of Columbus hall. Mrs. Annie E. Rackliffe of Springfield presided with guests Mrs. Grace Clement and Mrs. P. A. Sawyer. Committees were named for standing, membership, sick, flower, and social, with nine members admitted to the circle.
