Edward Clarence Plummer 68, longtime Bath figure and vice chairman of the United States Shipping Board since 1923, died Sunday night in Washington D C. Born in Yarmouth November 23, 1863, he worked from bobbin boy to Bowdoin College, then held editorial roles in Bath and Lewiston before owning The Bath Independent. He traveled to Europe to study labor and industrial conditions and published war reminiscences by Gen. Thomas W Hyde. He lived at 97 Dummer Street Bath and battled bladder trouble.
