Mrs Mary Elizabeth Spinney 67 widow of Elijah Spinney of Georgetown died Saturday at her sons home 253 Washington street after sudden influenza. She had lived in Georgetown most of her life and came to Bath for the winter. Survived by daughter Ethel and five sons Calvin Fred Hermon Ernest and Ralph all of Georgetown. Funeral held privately Monday at 233 Washington street with Rev C Raymond Chappel, body sent by boat to Georgetown for burial in the family lot.

Charles Smith Dies In Auburn Veteran of Civil War
Charles Smith died suddenly at his Auburn home on Saturday. Born in Birmingham England 75 years ago he came to the United States as a boy and lived in Hallowell. He enlisted in the 5th Maine Battery in 1861 and served until 1865, was captured at South Mountain and exchanged after two months. After the war he freighting on the Kennebec and carried lumber for the first summer cottage at Squirrel Island.
