New City Council Opens Regular Session of Year
The 1954 55 City Council met Wednesday for its first regular session. All newly elected members attended and the meeting ran briefly until about 9 30 p m. A forestry survey of timber land was discussed with possible selective cutting and lumber sales, with two agencies proposed to survey mark and supervise cutting. A motion to have the city manager pursue the survey and bids was approved unanimously. A plan to consolidate city checking accounts to one bank was withdrawn after banks opposed it, citing FDIC considerations and investment limits.

Steininger honored on retirement as Bath Iron Works machinery superintendent
Edward P. Steininger, retiring superintendent of machinery at Bath Iron Works, was honored at a Foremen's club dinner.
