Bridge business in February continued to rise from 1939 levels with cash receipts up 487.10 dollars, 50 cent cars up 719, and five cent passengers up 3 491, reflecting a steady month over month improvement. Miss Jennie C Garey age 24, daughter of Sanford and Mrs Garey of 822 Middle street, celebrated her sixth birthday and serves as president of the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Bath groups mobilize for Red Cross refugee garments
Bath residents and sewing groups respond swiftly to the Red Cross appeal for war refugee clothing. Thirteen societies form committees to produce dresses and sweaters, with Local chairman Harry Day praising support from Bath Laundry and local factories. The Bath Council of Girl Scouts reports nine active troops and 153 registered girls for the year ending December 31 1939. Camp programs and training expanded with two week camperships, a one week camp, and weekend troop camping. Leaders attended training in Plymouth Mass Portland and Lewiston with Miss Thelma Trott visiting Bath. The council raised funds through a card party a silver tea and other drives and reports receipts of 4914 with expenditures 355.09 leaving 104.06.
