City Manager Proposes Three Mill Tax Increase
City Manager Nathan C White tells the City Council his budget would raise the tax rate by three mills from 57. The proposal shows $159 000 more than 1952 mainly from payroll school costs and debt service while a $74 600 state tax is required by law. The Anticipated Revenue account would be refunded to the autonomy and the overall rise seems modest given the latest valuation of $10 682 490. Council notes the budget could still be cut.
