William E. Henderson 36, owner of the Nut Shell Lunch in Bath, was found dead in his restaurant car at the Maine Central crossing on Center Street. Medical examiner ruled heart failure. He leaves a wife and two children, with burial planned in Lowell Massachusetts. Henderson previously lived in Nova Scotia and was a member of the Elks.
Sixteen sail-makers are sought to enroll as sail-makers mates in the United States Naval Reserve Force. Pay is 52 dollars per month plus possible 50 dollars monthly for dependents. Eligible are men 21 to 35 with sailmaking or canvas work experience. Apply at the Boston navy yard or Portland recruiting stations.
The local board mailed questionnaires Tuesday to 182 Sagadahoc county men aged over twenty one who registered on June 5 last year. Registrants must return within seven days by July 2. The legal advisory board offers help in completing the forms.

Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Brackett have moved from North street to Brunswick after paying rent and buying furniture they later shipped to a vacant house. The owners refused to vacate, leaving the couple’s furniture in storage for weeks. Brackett works as a foreman for the Maine Central railroad construction crew.

The commission reviews Schedule No. 2 filing by Bath Woolwich ferry operator to raise rates for passengers and freight on the Kennebec River. It notes insufficient revenue, coal supply problems, municipal ownership limits, and orders that rates for after 6 p m be allowed while urging coal storage improvements and stronger management.
The Public Utilities Commission of Maine orders the People's Ferry Company to keep rates within Schedule No. 1 limits, allow service until 11 pm in Jul Aug Sept, and require immediate repairs to slips and approaches and a coal pocket for six months’ supply. It also directs construction of accessible storage and directs the purser to collect tickets only if adopted. Formal Complaint No. 172 is dismissed.
