Virginia Trott daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Harris Trott of Providence Rhode Island married Walter N Rothschild Jr son of Mr and Mrs Walter N Rothschild of New York City at Phippsburg Center Church on Saturday at 245 pm Rev Macy Whitehead officiated. The bride wore antique ivory faille heirloom gown with rosepoint lace and a rosepoint lace veil. Her sister in law Mrs Samuel Hazard served as matron of honor in a French blue taffeta gown. The ceremony included a large wedding party and a reception followed at the Trott summer home at Small Point Beach. The couple plan a Barbados honeymoon and will reside in New York City.

A 1939 Buick convertible driven by Halbert P. Condon and a 1947 Mercury sedan driven by Fred A. Hayes collided at Center and Middle streets. The Bath built destroyer Richard E. Witek, built at Bath Iron Works and launched February 2 1946, will be stationed in Rockland harbor on July 4. The ship is commanded by Comdr S M Barnes USN with Capt E H Whitehurst USN aboard as commander of Destroyer division 602. Whitehurst, well known in Bath, once served as assistant to Maine Supervisor of Shipbuilding Capt Russell S Hitchcock USN at Bath Iron Works. His wife Julia is a daughter of Archibald M Main, by director of Bath Iron Works Corp.

Fishermen reel in mackerel and salmon records in Maine
Fishermen at West Point and Small Point are taking mackerel in their pounds. Allie Wallace of West Point caught a 15 pound Atlantic salmon Friday night along with about 100 pounds of mackerel. Maurice Pye of Small Point holds the salmon record with 11 fish in his mackerel pound, set a few days ago.

Flower baskets lowered improve view and watering ease
Light pole baskets in the business district are set lower than last year making them more attractive and easier to water. A cemetery department truck with a water tank is used this year with the driver standing on the tank to reach the baskets with a hand sprinkler. Last year a fire department service truck with a booster line was needed due to higher baskets.
