Board Rejects Ouster of Ward After Park Board Nomination
Aldermen approve keeping Horace W. Ward as superintendent of Park and Cemeteries despite a bid by two board members to replace him with Bath man Karcher Jackson. Ward’s long service and prior approval by boards outweighed opposition driven by politics. The piece also notes opposition to a one cent per gallon federal gas tax set to expire June 30, and Maine alongside 20 states urging repeal.
