Bath's shipyard secured contracts for two of four destroyers to be built in private yards for the United States Navy. The new destroyers, similar to the Eberle and Livermore, will be 1630 tons displacement, with the Hughes in the South yard awaiting launching on June 17 and the Sims already launched.
