Sagadahoc County Republicans set August 16 for a rally and clambake at Rock Hill Inn West Bath with J W Larrabee to oversee catering. Proceeds support Maine campaign quotas and the state and national fund drive.
Public Works officials confirm Navy plans to construct a million dollar housing project at Lambert Park in Bath. The plan covers 150 families in 74 buildings with 1 to 3 bedrooms, wooden frame homes on concrete slabs, with forced hot air heat and automatic hot water heaters. Construction by private contractor, owned by the Navy, and run via private enterprise is expected to start soon.
Coal reserves account for 92 percent of the nation's total mineral fuel resources, highlighting coal as the primary energy asset and shaping economic and resource planning discussions among policymakers and industry analysts.

Bath met its 100 pint quota for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Iron Works Recreation Center. Ann Sewall led volunteers from industrial firms with 27 helpers assisting. an 11th hour donor surge saved the drive amid a national summer slump. The Bloodmobile returns to Bath in October for its final 1952 visit.
Captain Glennon G. Price will relieve Captain Car. F. L. Palmer Jr. as commanding officer of U S Naval Air Station Brunswick in a ceremony aboard the station. Price, a veteran of wartime service in the Atlantic and Pacific, hails from Joplin Missouri and is married to Elizabeth Vallandingham of Kentucky. The Price family resides at Quarters A with three daughters. Palmer becomes executive officer of NAS Brunswick.
Maine’s Three-Quarter Century Club announces its 1952 annual meeting at the University of Maine in Orono on August 20. Registration starts 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Gym, with events, contests, and prizes including oldest member, longest married couple, most recent marriage, most children and kin, oldest twins, and longest distance traveler. Wildlife notes say nesting birds at California's Salton Sea must cool eggs rather than warm them to protect embryos. A two quart casserole is suggested as a convenient size for small households of four to six people.
The Bath City Council approved the site chosen by the Special School Building committee and authorized City Manager Nathan White to negotiate with the Sewall heirs for about five acres adjoining city property on the old Brunswick road north of the State armory. The panel aims to secure land for a 30 classroom plan, with final approval tied to Maine School Building Authority and Federal agency funding.
Head Beach at Small Point grows in popularity with about 260 cars visiting on Sundays. Governor Sumner Sewall and Raymond Wyman own surrounding land and plan a semi commercial setup with parking, a kelp shed turned Small Point casino, and a short order kitchen. Sewall notes his sons Lobster sales sparked the venture as visitors request food and drinks. Continued on Page Four.
The West Point community gears up for the August 11 and 12 fair to benefit the community building. Volunteers meet at homes for prep and at the schoolhouse site for the final week. Local residents donate quilts, clothing, and goods for booths as fund-raising targets rise toward two thousand dollars.

Bath youths figure prominently at the state YMCA camp with about 5 percent of attendees from Bath. Bath staffers Dick Gross and Tom Schulten serve as camp leaders as the Bath Y M C A plans two final sessions from August 9 to 23. The Bath association reports a full camp season with a local day camp serving nearly 200 boys and life saving classes training over 25 youths.
