Destroyer Dewey Nearing Complete Launch Milestone
The U S S Dewey is due to go over the bath at Bath Iron Works about 3 15 this Saturday and will be about 96 to 97 percent complete. Naval officials say this exceeds prior destroyers at launch. Sister ship U S S Farragut was roughly 90 percent complete at launch in Quincy Massachusetts. The Dewey’s remaining incompletion is due to tests and trials rather than unfinished construction. Capt Daniel Miller and wife have returned to Roslindale after visiting his sister in town.
