Annual Meeting of Bath Savings Institution Held
The 101st annual Bath Savings Institution gathering at Sedgwick last evening drew corporators and guests. Officers chosen include William S. Newell chair, William A. Furber president, John G. Morse vice president, Allan Spear treasurer, Alex A. Burden assistant treasurer. Trustees re-elected: Newell, Furber, Morse, Wilson, Carey, Taylor, Bates, Spear. Furber cited growth in deposits and assets over $11 million with $225,000 in interest paid. Auditors Jordan and Jordan praised the bank’s condition. New corporators John F. Canks, Ralph C. Hilyard, James W. Temple were elected. An address by Raymond H. Trott followed.

Kennebec Flats Open Again for Clam Digging
Kennebec Flats near the river mouth were reopened on July 22 on a provisional basis for licensed clam diggers. A Fisheries Department survey found only very slight pollution not posing a health menace, though further checks could close the area again if pollution returns.

Thirty Five Foreign Exchange Students Visit Bath Area
A group of 35 young foreign exchange students aged 17 to 18 toured Bath and nearby Maine sites on a multi state bus journey. Local officials welcomed them and hostesses arranged meals and lodging as the group visited shipyards, beaches, and Lobster barbecue events. The students from Austria Belgium Finland France Germany New Zealand Norway participated in English language studies and expressed admiration for American hospitality and landscapes.

European youths visit Maine coast for sunset beach day
Thirty five students from eight European countries join Bath residents for a day at Small Point Beach. After an outdoor barbecue on the Summer property of former Governor Sewall, they sing songs of America and homeland, then ride a bus to Bath for lodging with Bath Garden Club hosts.
