Battery I South Portland led the encampment winning major honors while their athletic teams swept and the efficiency streamer went to that unit.
Bath sports note shows Joe Neptune an Indian ball player nearing fifty leads the Eastern Maine baseball league with a .31 batting mark after 17 hits in 32 at bats over eight games. Fern Bagley is second with a .518 average after 14 hits in 27 trips. Neptune, once a third baseman for A. I. Solomon’s Bath team circa 1921, remains a popular figure and has spent time with the Fredericks in the Blue Ridge League before returning to Maine play.
Capt. Charles R. Bailey of South Gardiner was a Friday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield F. Rowe of Waltham Massachusetts who are spending three weeks at their cottage at Popham Beach.
Beacon Street M. E. church Vacation Bible School wraps after three weeks with an average attendance of 55. Mrs. Irving C. Varney led the program and teaching staff included Miss Elizabeth D. McGrath and Miss Nellie V. Leeman. A Friday night exhibition featured scripture, songs, recitations, and handwork by pupils and staff.
Chester A. Plant of Plant's Garage Bath and Elbridge R. Wright attended a Belgrade meeting where the Kennebec Valley Automobile Dealers association was formed. Twenty six dealers joined. Ira Belyea of Waterville was elected president and a 12 member board was created.

Participants performed songs readings piano solos and an original poem with occasional ukulele accompaniment. Refreshments were served by Mrs Cahill Mrs Conley and others, a silver collection was taken, and the next cycle committee was named.

Capt. Stanley Beck of Boston, in a hurry to reach his fiancée Miss Virginia Bishop of Bath, flew to Powersfield then to Russell Street where a canvas bag with the message was dropped for Miss Bishop. She signaled by a white sheet and the bag was retrieved by local children. Beck heads to Madison field, Cape Cod, for maneuvers. Miss Bishop’s betrothal was announced July 4.

The Foremost tug under Capt. J E Cunningham struck the Kennebec bridge fender at 2 53 am Friday while passing with pulp barge No 1. She trained under Capt Lydia Adams, is daughter of Mr and Mrs Asa T Grant, a Bangor High School and Beal Business College graduate, National Honor Society member, and served as a lieutenant under Capt Katherine Bryant for three years. She worked in Welfare projects including Bangor Day Camp and the Anti Tuberculosis Clinic.
