Two trucks crashed Friday morning at Linden and Washington. A Bath Laundry Chevrolet panel truck driven by R. Paul Burns sustained about $275 in damage, while a 1940 Ford panel truck from Cedar Grove driven by Robert G. Rittall suffered about $75. Police continue investigations.
A 1951 Chrysler owned by Dr. Earl L. Wade was damaged about 250 dollars when another car backed into it while parked on the west side of Commercial street Friday night. Dr Wade found the left fender light bumper and grille badly smashed upon returning to his car around nine o clock. The responsible driver did not report the damage and police are investigating.
Councilman Louis O. Couture leads a fund drive to raise 300 dollars for Bath Playgrounds outings at Popham Beach. He canvasses clubs and industries and promises to push hard to secure the money for the kids welfare.
Health department bulletin notes measles and mumps in Sagadahoc county for the week. Bath reports one measles case and one mumps case while West Bath has four mumps cases.
The number of beneficiaries in Sagadahoc County grew 22 percent in six months after amendments to the Social Security Act. Monthly payments climbed 25 percent from 31,481 to 41,974 dollars, with 1,072 residents receiving benefits as of February 28, 1951.
