New Cable Stretched On Carlton Bridge
Six hundred sixty feet of new cable was stretched Wednesday of last week from the east tower to the west carrying 37 lines for Maine Central railroad. The work supported a new signal system due to freight traffic increases between Bath and Hardings Iron Works and on the Knox and Lincoln division. Draw had to be raised during light traffic periods, causing a backlog of waiting cars on both ends. Mr and Mrs W Dayton Hill of Washington street spent the weekend at Moosehead Lake.
