State highway survey eyes new Bath to Brunswick route
The latest Bath to Brunswick highway survey proposes a few hundred yard shift with an overpass crossing A and K railroad and Maine Central tracks. It would cut through ledge at two points and cross two gulches requiring bridges, potentially widening the New Meadows river causeway and bridge, with mounting costs and no accepted plan yet. Roscoe G. Bailey of Bath notes four surveys failed to gain approval and hopes the Turnpike route may still win out.
