Bath Iron Works Corp signs a lease for a 50 by 125 foot building at Hardings East Brunswick and surrounding ground. The site will serve as an auxiliary plate yard and storage for smaller supplies and will become a branch-like extension focusing on assembling and pre fitting for four 422 foot cargo carriers for American Export Lines. Spur tracks and a 15 ton locomotive hoist will aid movement of ship assemblies from the Maine Central line to the yard.

Woolwich Girl Dies After Auto Crash
Shirley Stinson six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert W Stinson Woolwich died en route to Bath Memorial Hospital after being struck on No 1 highway by an Attleboro Mass man Eustace V Hicks. The fracture of the neck was fatal per Dr Jacob Smith. Hicks stopped within 24 feet and stayed for county inquiry. The child just finished first year at Sagadahoc Ferry school.

Real estate and personal estates show an increase in valuation this year over 1939. The annual tax commitment by the assessors to the tax collector Donald D. Young was made Saturday. The re capitulation follows the figures and poll increases.

The Bath Iron Works will build six new destroyers under a national defense act, bringing total ships under construction to 13 plus four commercial vessels, about 17 total costing near 75 million dollars.
