Herbert L Anderson Sr of Huse Street retires from Bath Iron Works after more than 45 years. He started in 1903, worked in Quincy 1925 28, then returned in 1928 and led the Pneumatic Department since 1933. He helped prepare BIW clambake and plans more time for family hobbies. His sons Herbert L Jr and Robert F also work at BIW. he has five daughters and 17 grandchildren. Fellow workers gave him silver painted shoes with 2 000 pennies and a fine easy chair.

Edwin L. Pert of Bath was elected county committee chairman by the Sagadahoc Democrats at Bath city hall. The 21 year old public relations man succeeds Brian M. Jewett who resigned. The meeting also planned the coming election campaign and discussed rallies. Robert E. Brewer proposed forming a Muskie For Governor club in the county.

Bath Hit By Two Severe Showers and Storm Damage
Bath faced two vicious thunderstorms early Sunday and again at noon causing high winds hail and rain. A large elm fell on Walter B. James’s Drummond Street home damaging it and likely insured. Trees were uprooted and a Birch Point flagpole toppled while a small sloop owned by Herbert Morse capsized at Meadow Brook.

Bowdoin Graduate Renounces Baron Title to Become Citizen
A Bowdoin College graduate from Woolwich renounced his inherited baron title in Federal Court, Portland, joining 90 others in U S citizenship. Christian Bereane Johann von Hoyningen-Huene 22, whose father was a German army captain killed in World War II, gave up Baron Hoyningen-Huene. His mother Mrs Aimee von Hoyningen-Huene renounced her title of baroness and was repatriated in the same session. The couple, married with a four month old son, had lived in Germany before returning to Woolwich.

Bath men elevated to Chevalier in De Molay ceremony
At Ionic hall Woodfords Tuesday evening Victor Lonn and Frank Young of Bath were advanced to Chevalier in the De Molay order. Both are charter Bath Chapter members instituted in November 1951. Lonn, State Junior Councilor, will start his junior year at the University of Maine in forestry. Young, Morse High 1954 graduate, will enter UMaine in September.

Torrent 1 of Bath enters the big firemen muster at Somersworth New Hampshire on July 5. The machine will be loaded Sunday and depart Monday morning. The muster parade is 10 a m and playoffs start 1 30 p m. Somersworth marks its 300th town anniversary with the event.

Sasanoa Tribe hosted a district meeting in Bath with about 75 members attending. Notables included Arthur Allard, J Lindsay Campbell, Benjamin Small, Harold Trask, and Herbert Ayer. Arthur Williams presided. the Sanga tribe team directed the adoption degree. Plans for the Great Council in Bath this Fall were outlined. Foul To Fowl Play In Richmond Officer Converts to Turkeys
Henry Sikkelee, a Richmond policeman, began keeping chickens to supplement income. After a decade of success he quit the force and two years ago moved to turkeys. He now raises 8,000 turkeys, one of Henrico County’s largest flocks.
