Juveniles arraigned in Bath break-ins pleadings
Seven Bath juveniles faced municipal court on alleged break-ins with two, a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy, pleading guilty on Saturday. Bath man G O Hodgkins found guilty of forgery
After 35 minutes’ deliberation last Wednesday the jury convicted Gordon R Hodgkins of Bath on a forgery charge. The State said he aided in forging Mrs Oliver Moses name to an $18 check on July 6 1938. Vinal King of Bath testified Hodgkins forged the check. Hodgkins faces another indictment for larceny of Ronald Smiths automobile.

Berwindvale to Undergo Dry Dock Repairs After Grounding
Steamship Berwindvale was examined by underwriters on Friday and Captain Stanley Abbott was given permission to sail to New York for dry dock repairs and further inspection. The vessel grounded on an unmarked ledge off the Sugar Loaves while entering the Kennebec River during fog last week. The outer bottom ruptured but the inner bottom remained largely intact, and about 140 tons of coal were bunkered before the ship resumed toward open water in search of better weather.

Resolute Returns After Fuel Replenishment on Kennebec

Destroyer Jonet Returns to Bath After Naval Trial
On the Coast Guard’s advice at Portland and Bath Iron Works the 1850 ton destroyer Jonet completed a preliminary accept and sailed upriver without escort due to ice-free Kennebec. The Naval Trial Board joined the vessel at Portland Tuesday morning then rode to Washington, D. C. by train.

Braley fined for drunken driving in Richmond incident
Kenneth H. Braley, 33, Newport, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in municipal court. Judge Gardiner R. Deering fined him $100 and costs of $23.95, or three months in Kennebec County Jail. Three Portland men testified Braley drove erratically after following him four miles.
