Maritime Commission Ship Starr Docks at Bath Iron Works
The Starr arrived at Bath from the James River anchorage in tow of the tug Great Isaac. It is 459 feet long and 2200 horsepower, operated by Moran Towage Co of New York City. The ship, a sister to the Caswell, is the second of three to be reconverted at Bath Iron Works, with the third due soon. Built by North Carolina Shipbuilding Co in Wilmington, NC, the Starr served in the Pacific with the Navy during World War II before conversion to a cargo attack ship.

Sagadahoc chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis sponsors the March of Dimes ball on Friday evening January 31 with Bob Percival and his orchestra of Portland as the entertainment.
