Candlelit procession marks first St Phillip's service

Sunday service at St Phillip's Church drew a crowded turnout with candles carried by members and visitors on their way home. Rev. George Chiera delivered the sermon on Ye are the salt of the earth and Ye are the light of the world. Francis Studley was substitute organist and numerous parish members led prayers and readings.

Westport section notes a birth announcement for Wert Break of Beesihay Harbor on Core and Mr and Mrs Wert Break listed as parents. West Bath Schools Close as Kid Readiness Dips

West Bath schools closed this week due to manos with many students confined and Miss Roberta B Hathorne kept at home in Woolwich. Reopening hoped for Jan 15. Community events include Red Cross dinner Jan 17 chaired by Mrs Lincoln Williams and Penguin club birthday celebrations for Miss Marilyn Booker with a social night, weenie roast, and cake.

Town Chairmen To Raise Funds For Infantile Paralysis

Arrangement by Mrs James Nottall to have town chairmen in surrounding communities collect funds during the January drive. Volunteers include Mrs Florence Temple Miss Laura Harding Mrs George Walker and others who will distribute gin boxes greeting cards and take orders for tickets to the President's birthday ball in Bath on January 26. James L. Dort Dies After Illness at Bath Memorial

James L. Dort retired painter died at Bath Memorial Hospital on December 29 after years of ill health. Born June 21 1660 in Woolwich, he lived there most of his life. Survived by sister Mrs Herbert E. Wright a niece Miss Anna Larrabee and three cousins. Interment in Murphy Corner cemetery with Henry E. Weston officiating.

Senior Young People Elect Officers at Corliss Street Church

The Senior Young People's Society of Corliss Street church elected Raymond M. Watson president at Tuesday's annual meeting. Beulah A. Pratt became vice president Ruth L. Clark secretary and Isabelle T Kennedy treasurer. The group heard annual reports and approved a committee to select play toys. They voted to sponsor an organ recital with proceeds for wall lights and to conduct a membership campaign. A New Year's tree and gift exchange concluded the evening followed by refreshments.
