How to Keep Ice Off the Windshield
A Lewiston Sun reader shares a practical method to prevent windshield ice during freezing rains. Place two folded rags under the rear hood edge, leaving about an inch gap each side. When the engine runs, airflow from the radiator heats the windshield through the openings, preventing ice and enabling wipers to clear the glass. The rear hood latches stay unfastened to accommodate the raised rear hood.

Venetia Ruby Mellon widow of John L. Mellon died Tuesday morning at her daughter Ella Frazee's Bath home. Born in Swanton Vermont, she moved to Bath 18 years ago from Lowell Massachusetts.
