In Bath the Republican party fails to nominate a mayoral candidate as election nears. Mayor George E. Hughes, a Democrat, seeks re election unopposed. The G O P could not find a willing candidate after nominating declined contenders reforming ward slates.
The Bath market reports a fair supply of produce due to sleighing good week. Eggs fetch 24 to 25 cents per dozen, Hillcrest Poultry Farm Co. sells at 29 cents. Potatoes scarce at around 0 cents a bushel. Butter scarce at 25 cents a pound. Cabbages beets turnips 1 1 4 to 2 cents. Beans yellow eve 5.25 and 2.59 per bushel. Veal 9 to 10 cents, lamb 12 cents, chicken 18 to 19 cents, fowl 16 to 17 cents.
John Fiske convicted for wife desertion by Judge Staples in municipal court. He was found in Farmington after leaving his family. Previously charged with a separate offense. In court Mrs. Fiske showed compassion, but the sentence of four months in Auburn jail stood.
Harvey K. Erskine received his commission yesterday as first lieutenant of Company C, Second Regiment, Maine National Guard. Governor Cobb signed the commission, which Erskine plans to frame. The Hyde Light Guards and friends celebrate a merit earned promotion in a career followed with interest.

The Chester departed yesterday for standardization tests over the measured mile at Owl's Head. The trial board will report this afternoon. First round of the game tournament between the Colonial club and Brunswick club is set for next Friday in Bath, with return games later in the college town. Leonard Lightbody did not sign for Warden nomination, ensuring McPher’s election.
