Alderman Donald N Small led the Republican caucus nominating incumbent Arthur Sewall for a fifth mayoral term amid a grim note on the citys finances. Small and Forest C Legard praised Sewall while Sewall pledged a careful, fair administration. Sewall has served 1935 36 37, with a 1938 mayoral term and return in 1939.

Dresden Couple Celebrates Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs F deaed W Hall of Dresden marked sixty years of marriage with a quiet ceremony and a party at their home. They wed on Feb 3 in a horse and carriage, and were joined by their daughter Laura Richmond and many friends. The couple are in good health. Mrs Hall enjoyed autumn harvests and made three quilts this winter. Their six daughters include Ruth Hall of Dresden, Nellie Hall of Yarmouth, Emily Woodward of Phippot, Avis Guild of Gardiner, Laura Simphen of Richmond, and others.

Full Settlement For City Taxes By Spear
The city collected $6,010.82 in full tax settlement from Arthur G. Spear treasurer of the Peoples Investment Association for 1938 taxes on 90 parcels in the Brick Project. Judge William H. Fisher ruled $5,242.50 taxes $590.43 interest $135 liens and $42.89 costs. City officials welcomed the settlement as the first full collection in years amid prior disputes over valuation and two lawsuits in December.
