Youth Fellowship Enjoys Bobsled Ride in Beacon Street Area
Members of the Youth Fellowship of Beacon Street church rode a bobsled guided by Jack Clark's team for about two hours through the suburbs. They returned to the Moore home on Washington Street for coffee sandw iches and cake and a social hour. A Bath War Fund Red Cross committee met at Mrs. George Baer Connard’s home to plan the annual drive set for March 5 to 18. Field director Boyd M. Bailey urged timely support, noting a national goal of 200 million dollars and Bath’s local target of 21 590, with 38 percent growth over 1944.

Central Ladies Aid Plans Activities At Meeting
Ladies Aid of Central church met at the parish house with good turnout. President Mrs. Luther Thompson led. They scheduled a miscellaneous service table with Mrs. Alfred Rowe and Mrs. Joseph Avery in charge and an all day session later. Sewing for a future sale was approved and refreshments served. Also noted were plans for a future absent member and a hospital transfer for a Lewiston child injured in an auto incident.

Lions Club Fourth War Loan Dinner a Big Success

Speedy Destroyer Launches Saturday Amid Storm
The USS Lyman K. Swenson became the first line destroyer launched Saturday at Bath Iron Works despite a heavy snowstorm. Sponsor Miss Cecelia A. Swenson, brother Midshipman Robert A. Swenson, and an assembly of naval and plant officials witnessed the ceremony on the Kennebec. Captain Swenson, lost in 1942, was honored by classmates and family present. Midshipman Robert Gilchrist of Maine Maritime Academy visited with his parents after weekend duties.
