Proclamation and Georgia Plan End in Sagadahoc Conflict
The October 9 1729 Dunbar letter reveals plans to create the eastern Georgia province beyond Kennebec River with mass land grants to settlers. Crown law voided Dunbar’s authority by August 1731, ending his attempt to form Sagadahoc and the Georgia province, with Massachusetts upholding old grants.

Alive Brother Reunites With Man Believed Dead in Bath
William King, a Bowdoinham lumber camp worker, arrived in Bath after reading in the Independent that he had died in a Livermore Falls fire. He proved alive, explaining he was not in Livermore Falls, while the deceased was a Fall River native who had worked in Maine lumber camps. Friends recall King’s good character and savings plans as towns consider a wheel car fix and local transit improvements.
