Death of Josiah Merrow Stuns Bowdoinham Community
Relatives in Bowdoinham report the death of Josiah H. Merrow in Fernandina Florida on January ot. Former Bowdoinham business leader, he built the schooner Gertie Merrow and ran a general store and shipyard in the 1870s before moving to Florida in 1875. He leaves a widow Addie Wood a daughter Mrs. E J Roux and son Samuel Merrow. He was about 69. The town notes other local happenings and community events amid a busy period.

The Ladies Aid of North Woolwich and the Willing Workers of Montswag held sessions at local homes. Mr. and Mrs. Bishop and others visited Boston and Bath. Wiscasset post office janitor W E Merrie arrested last Tuesday for robbing the mail is out on bail and at his home. Mr and Mrs Frank Leavitt of Dresden visited Mr and Mrs Arthur Bean last Sunday. Asbury Bailey sick with measles shows improvement. Miss Marion Soule improves at Lewiston Hospital.
