Bath CWA payroll shrinks after ten hour cuts
The recent reduction from 30 to 24 hours lowered Bath CWA payroll by about 600 dollars. A sample weekly payroll for Bath CWA projects totals 3,057 dollars with 220 dollars paid to women under Civil Works Service. Largest payroll 818.97 at Kelley field. smallest 42.72 for five women on project 203 G. Payrolls show 21 workers on school repairs earning 504 dollars while Lower High Street and other jobs pay 642.43 and 523.46 respectively. Checks are issued by Lewiston treasury, with Bath administration handling payrolls and timekeeping. Women sew mittens at Y.M.C.A. for relief workers using donated materials.

Stairway Reopened To Sagadahock Block
The Sagadahock block stairway reopened Wednesday after a month of alterations to the front of the former W H Smith and Son store to be tenanted by a chair store. Office holders on the second floor had used the entrance north of Senter’s Inc. The new stairway has two straight flights versus three winding flights before, and maintains the same width. Mrs Frederick H Kimball, at the Hotel Eastland for a few months, visited Bath on Wednesday.

Concrete forms for Back River bridge piers begin
Concrete forms have been built for six piers on the west side of Back River for the new bridge between Arrowsic and Georgetown. Pouring is expected to begin soon as materials move from Thomaston to Woolwich. The project lists three tall piers near the Arrowsic shore and three shorter ones, with a granite middle pier on the Georgetown side. Nineteen laborers could not work Wednesday due to cold, and completion is hoped for by early summer.

Meeting Postponed by West Bath Red Cross
A West Bath Red Cross meeting set for Wednesday was postponed to the next Wednesday at the Grange hall. In Fort Worth Texas Ira Shelton, a Negro, was fined ten cents for possessing four of whisky and had to borrow the fine from the prosecuting attorney.
