Sagadahoc County Republicans Georgia Wakefield of Richmond and Arthur Purington of Bath opposed a preferential gubernatorial expression at the Portland convention meeting in Augusta. The motion failed 9 to 8, later corrected to 10-9 in favor. Chairman Field may call an informal vote. no county conventions were actioned.

Bath observers cheered as more than 400 attended the President's Ball at Morse High School in honor of Franklin D. Roosevelt's 52nd birthday. About 100 couples danced from 8:30 to 1:30 with a 30 minute intermission featuring the President's message, and an estimated $150 to $200 was raised for the Warm Springs foundation. The Royal Arcadian Orchestra led the 200 dancer grand march, while Roy Shackford sold ice cream during intermission and Rodney E. Ross won the cake auction.
