A Bath reader writes on the nearly two century old house at a river town site describing oak sills and posts, morticed joints, and hand made nails. The piece urges placing the oak cabinet and relics in the city hall or Jonathan Philbrook house, to create a public display for local historical artifacts and education.

He notes few drunks in the West, saloons closing after complaints, and a distillery failure in Oregon as proof of dry policy benefits. He predicts national adoption of women’s suffrage and contrasts Western opportunities with the East.
