The Pejepscot tug crew was declared blameless in a Rockland accident on November 20 1929 that burned a motor boat and severely injured George B Smith. The decision by Federal Judge Clarente Hale found the explosion resulted from Smith striking a match without checking safety rather than the tug’s actions.

Old Pennesseewassee Steamer Recalled On Norway Lake
Article recalls the 1886 build by Capt Edmund Ames of the steamer Pennesseewassee on Lake Pennesseewassee Norway. The craft served passengers and freight until 1902 when a smaller boat and gasoline largely replaced coal power. The hull then served as a canoe shelter before being dismantled for kindling. only the whistle remains in daily use at the W F Tubbs Company snowshoe mill. Frank W Robbins of Rockland enjoyed a blueberry pie with berries canned 68 years earlier by his mother in law Aramantha Wilson, as part of a test of preserved fruit quality.
