Maine water pollution debated at Sagadahoc Rod and Gun Club
Doctor Tufts told a Ladies Night gathering that the Androscoggin river ranks worst in U S pollution but Maine leads the nation in pollution percentage. He urged stronger pollution control modeled after Pennsylvania and criticized the Maine Development Commission and current laws as favorable to manufacturers. The club opposed a hike in hunting and fishing licenses and planned an ice fishing derby at Nequasset Lake in February. The meeting opened with remarks by Past President George M. Carlton Jr. and new president Leslie C. Shumway.
