Blaisdell Found Innocent In Death Of West Point Resident
A Sagadahoe County Traverse Jury cleared Maurice K. Blaisdell of a charge in the Nov. 12 hunting death of Emil Van Smith near Phippsburg. After one hour 23 minutes the jury found Blaisdell not guilty, in a case unusual for indicting a resident on negligent shooting in wild game pursuit. The verdict followed testimony about the morning shot from Blaisdell’s rifle as he watched what he believed to be a deer near the Morse farm.

Breaks Found in Bath Water Main Under Kennebec
The Kennebec water system reports two additional breaks in Bath’s 18 inch main after a log swept by strong tides jackknifed three twelve foot sections. Divers struggled to clamp the line as the log remains in the river and swift tides hamper repair work. Libby said the process may take a month with the auxiliary main and Hardings Station in use by day while residents conserve water.
