Members of the Nutrition and Canteen Corps Bath chapter of the American Red Cross have spent weeks assisting Bath Memorial Hospital. Volunteers, including Mrs Delores Burnham and Mrs Leverett Welch, staffed daily shifts during Christmas week and coordinated with hospital dietitian Mrs Brewster Sedgwick. Chapter chair Mrs Clarence Ring appointed Mrs Gardiner Deering to lead the hospital program as the group continues its community service.

Okaiyoka Senior and Red Rose Junior Girl Scout troops visited the Old Folks Home to sing carols and present a Christmas program. Mrs. Wilmer I Voorhees and Mrs. Francis B Corrigan led the groups. Oranges apples and candy were given to residents as the program featured carols and solos by Linna Marie Purdue and others.

Young Men Must Register Immediately for Draft
All men born between November 1 and December 21 1924 must register with local draft boards by December 31 1942. Sagadahoc county’s January quota is 122 with 15 volunteering for the navy and two for the marines. Remaining registrants will be examined January 22 as the board reclassifies many married men without children and asks for birth reports.
