Break At Cigar Store Admitted By A Boy Of 15
A 15 year old Bath youth confessed to breaking into a Front street cigar store and stealing about $65. He was arraigned in Municipal court on breaking and entering and larceny and placed on a year long probation with a suspended sentence by Judge Gardiner R. Deering. Officers Cros by, Crocker and Moriarty traced the case to Brunswick and brought the suspect back after initial denials. The confession stated about $30 was taken to buy a coat and to gamble in Brunswick. The broader string of break ins at local schools remained unsolved.

Workmen Begin Preparations on New Bath Offices
Preliminary work on the Hyde Windlass Co. office building on Washington street has started after awarding the erection contract to H. P. Cummings Co. of Ware Massachusetts and Winthrop. The L shaped three story to one story structure will sit on the Windlass land with Meeker property to the north used as a parking area. A small temporary office has been built and material shipments from Massachusetts are awaited. The old well nearby may be preserved as a historic feature if space permits. Capt. Claude S. Gillette, formerly at Pearl Harbor, will assume new duties at the Navy Yard January 20. He plans to leave Washington around Christmas with Mrs. Gillette and her children.

Larceny Charge Dismissed In Navy Officer Case In Bath
John M. Sullivan was arraigned in Bath Municipal Court on larceny of 35 dollars from a US Navy chief petty officer. Witnesses described the officer’s account of the theft at a local home. Judge Deering found Sullivan not guilty and dismissed the case.
