Obituary of Civil War veteran John Dennison of Topsham
John Dennison, a Civil War veteran born in Freeport on March 27, 1842, was found dead at his Summer street home in Topsham after a sudden heart attack. He served in the 25th Maine, Company D, from 1862 to 1863, and later worked as a special police officer in Topsham. He is survived by son Emery Dennison of Portland and daughter Mrs. George Winslow of Freeport. The death followed years of heart trouble and he lived alone.
