Bath Faces Need for More Cemetery Land

Bath contemplates expanding Oak Grove Cemetery as new sections near Oak Grove Avenue are graded to meet demand. The city owns Maple Grove and Oak Grove parcels totaling about 60 acres, with limited developable land north of the railroad due to soil depth, rocks, and swamp. Despite high costs, Bath sells lots for 30 dollars with 100 dollars for perpetual care, raising questions about self sufficiency as resources run short. Supt. Horace W. Ward is praised for managing the cemeteries amid funding limits. The W. H. Sewall addition reflects his prior stewardship.
