The report notes Maine Seafood shipments will be transported by air from Florida with a return load of freight. A ship will carry 7,000 pounds and be piloted by Lendall E. entering service from Lisbon Falls now in Brunswick. Friends wish the venture success.
The Bath Iron Works built destroyer Lamson traveled with live torpedoes jammed in tubes and risked explosion during WWII. It was damaged in Ormoc Bay on December 7, 1944, bent torpedo tubes, then repaired at Puget Sound Navy Yard. Named for Lt Roswell Lamson, sponsor Miss Frances Andrews, daughter of Rear Admiral Andrews.
An extension course funded by night school funds opens February 6 at Morse High School. A February 6 organizational meeting for teachers at 6 p.m. and a joint meeting for teachers and community members at 8 p.m. will outline topics from community background to future school planning.
The Lowell Temple Pythian Sisters held an officer installation led by Past Grand Chief Hattie Lord of Auburn assisted by Grand Manager Mary Curtis and Grand Senior Gertrude Stewart. New officers include Rose Jean as Past Chief Annah Mc Cabe M E Chief, Jane Shea Excellent Senior Verna Butterfield Excellent Junior Dorothy Stone Manager Lois Knight Mistress of Finance Agnes Perry Protector Rebecca Ferguson Guard Leonice Williams. Guests from Alvah Young Temple Brunswick and Lawrence Briggs of Madison attended. Receipts included gifts to the installing officer and retiring Mistress of Finance after 28 years. Refreshments followed. a gathering and box lunch are planned Wednesday afternoon with a Degree Staff meeting at 8 p.m.
Walter Small aged 69 of Phippsburg was severely burned on the head face and shoulders when his clothing caught fire after he fell asleep while smoking. He rolled in snow to extinguish the flames and was hospitalized at Bath Memorial, where his condition was reported favorable this morning.

Lorraine Ellen Gillies daughter of Mrs. James C. Gillies and Robert Jerome Hendrickson USN son of Mrs. Henry Hendrickson were united in a Wesley parson Friday afternoon with Rev. C Ba Oliver officiating. The bride was attended by her mother and Stanley F. Cothran served as best man as friends witnessed the ceremony.

Mrs. Bert Temple Sr. died recently as friends and relatives gathered in Bowdoinham. Funeral arrangements were held at George Henry’s Funeral Home. The Purington family, Spear family, and several Bowdoinham residents are named among mourners and community acts. Local medical visits included Dr. Pratt and Dr. Gould attending Bert Temple Sr. and Miss Mary Bailey improving at home. Relatives of Mrs. George Davis of Saco learned of her husband’s death.
William Schulze, named to fill the Bath Iron Works Corporation vacancy caused by the death of Charles H. Cahill on April 4, 194X, will serve as vice president and secretary. Schulze previously chaired and managed related firms and was elected vice president and secretary of the Bath Iron Works Corporation on May 1, 1945.
Miss Eleazor Mae Munsey daughter of Mr and Mrs Lester G Munsey of Pine Street and Ray W Merrill Jr son of Mr and Mrs Ray W Merrill were married at the bride’s parents home in a ceremony by Rev Albert R Man. The bride wore white satin brocade with veil and coronet and carried a bouquet while attendant Clara Fowles wore blue satin with a yellow corsage. The groom wore his Army uniform and had served overseas. They will reside in Portland after a short visit with out of town relatives included in attendance.
