In Bath the first Eagle Badge awards in Morse High School auditorium went to Dean Leavitt and William Barter. Israel Bernstein of Portland presented the honors and gave a Scouting address highlighting home church school and Scouting values. The candlelight ceremony lit twelve candles representing the Scout Law and oath as Bernstein pinned the badges.

Bath lodge of Elks hosted Maine State Elks Association President McLaughlin and suite Thursday. Initiations included William Grevers Walter J. Snipe Peter Gagnon. A War Service Commission to aid World War II veterans was approved with weekly Wednesday hours and potential extra evenings. Bath readers note the retirement of Dr James W Loughlin of Newcastle from the Maine State Board of Health after 26 years of service. Bowdoin Medical School graduate 1900, he served in Kennebec Lincoln Knox and Sagadahoc counties, led Evacuation Hospital No 37 in World War I, then joined the Maine State Bureau of Health staff.
