William W. Oliver, 47, of 182 North Street Bath, died Wednesday noon at Bath Memorial Hospital after a two week illness following surgery. A Bath Iron Works maintenance employee, Oliver was a famed 1920s scholastic and semi pro baseball pitcher, later working at Oakhurst Dairy and Wilson's Fish Market before seven years with Bath shipyard maintenance. He is survived by his wife Emma Ouellette Oliver, his mother, a sister Henry Rogers, and two sons Lieut. John F. Oliver USN and Richard W. Oliver, all of Bath. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Thomas R Merrifield 65 died suddenly Wednesday morning at his Bath home 814 Washington Street. He was married to Boria Trafton Merrifield and had lived in Bath two years after moving from Brewer. Born July 14 1892 in Richmond he worked for the Maine Central Railroad and various Maine employers until retirement in 1955. He served in World War I at Camp Ovens as a Divisional Headquarters Telegrapher. He belonged to Danforth Methodist church Railroad Telegraphers Union Emerson and Lane Post American Legion Richmond. Surviving are his widow two sisters Zoe Tyle and Miss Etrel Merrifield Richmond one niece and one nephew. Funeral arrangements in Richmond announced by Shumway Funeral Service.

Percy Harold Williams 70 prominent Waterville magnate and Mason died Sunday in a Vassalboro nursing home after a lacey illness. Born August 18 1887 in Canaan he worked as Canaan postmaster for 14 years then moved to Waterville where he built a 25 year business career owning Dirigo Oil Silver Street station and other enterprises. He retired in 1946 and served as Waterville councilman twice.
