Obituary of Fred P. Carr 66 longtime Maine resident

Fred P. Carr 66 retired ship yard worker died Wednesday noon at Bath Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Boston Oct 4 1893 he lived in Boston before moving to Maine. He organized the Five Islands fire department and served as chief. He worked at Bath Iron Works and was a deacon in Five Islands Baptist church. Surviving are five sons four daughters a brother and 17 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Shumway Funeral Service.

Born July 19 1888 in Phippsburg he began as a newsboy 1901 and rose to composing room foreman 1916. He served in local government and community groups including Masons Woodmen and Boy Scouts.
