Maine Potato Raisers See Optimistic Year Ahead
Maine potato growers expect a near record harvest approaching 50 million bushels with prices likely around 3 dollars per barrel though not reaching 4. Early shipments commanded about 1 dollar a barrel as markets foresee price rises later. Noting a decade of seven profit years, they reflect on earnings dips in 1924 1928 1931 and 1932. Also mentions Rev Weston P Holman and Mrs Holman of Camden visiting after a three week trip through Portland Boston and Gorham New Hampshire.
