George F Wallace of West Point Phippsburg died suddenly while hauling lobster traps. His son noticed an empty lobster pot drifting in the boat, found his father unconscious, and he died three hours later from shock. He was 60 years old and survived by five sons. Funeral held yesterday at 2 p.m. from his West Point residence.
Bay Point was filled with summer residents and Bath visitors for a vaudeville by three Tuesday Club members. Miss Madelyn Hunt and Miss Ethel Hawley drew applause and praise for recitations and song. Miss Miriam Kimball and Miss Hawley performed a Dutch sketch, with Miss Dorothy Duncan contributing a brilliant overture. Evening dancing followed, with many guests from Bath and local club members. Mrs. Sewall hosted a noon luncheon on her porch, and Kimball family members returned from Lily Bay with John Wilson Jr. driving. A church lawn party on Charles Shaw’s grounds preceded a Shaw Hall dance for about a dozen couples.
It is rare to see three six masters at the wharf for repairs as was witnessed last week. Messrs. Percy and Small repaired them.
The town records Deacon Joseph White’s seventy seventh birthday with many callers stopping by his farm. He remains active in progressive farming, operates a well kept Sagadahoc county property, and has two daughters, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
