Mrs Lucy W Purington marked her ninety ninth birthday at her West Bath home. Family, neighbors, and letters poured in while Hon Joseph W Winter of Berry's Mills visited with his daughter. A birthday cake from great nephew John E Conley delighted her as she recalls early mornings and sharp hearing. She attends Wesley Methodist Church and remains mentally alert. She lives with son Hiram C Purington. another son Charles W of Bath and daughter Mrs Sarah Lemont also reside in Bath.

Labor Day Clambake Planned by Bath Masons
On Labor Day the Bath Masonic lodges and their ladies will hold a clambake at Merrymeeting Park with special trolley cars from the square at 9:30 AM and return at 5:30 PM. The day will feature forenoon athletic events, music, trophies, a noon bake, and an afternoon ball game between lodge clubs. Tickets are on sale.

Beal Considers Moving Island Burial Of Longtime Resident
Bobby W. N. Beal, Phippsburg selectmen chair and state agent for island residents, weighs granting relatives permission to remove Henry Tripp’s remains from Bush Island to Lisbon Falls. Tripp, a loner who lived on Bush Island for years, died about three years ago and was buried there after no relatives claimed the body. Relatives from Lisbon Falls seek to relocate the grave. Beal’s decision will determine the burial site transfer.

Launching of torpedo boat destroyer Drayton at Bath Iron Works
Vacationists in the area may witness the launch of the torpedo boat destroyer Drayton from Bath Iron Works at 1 39 pm Monday with public access inside the works to view the slide. The Drayton, sister ship to the Paulding, will have her official trial Tuesday and is notable as an oil burning navy craft.
