In PHIPPSBURG the season opens with hayrack parties to Bath to see motion pictures. A shipboard service aboard Capt. John Haskell's new command featured prayer, hymns, and a Psalm, followed by bananas and candy for 50 guests. The James M. W. Hall then tows to Norfolk for coal at 4.50 per ton.

The Westmoreland, a nine mast coal barge built for the Penn Gas Coal Co of Philadelphia, slid into the Kennebec at 7 12 am from the Kelley-Spear yard. Captain Edward Olsen will command with a crew of five, and the ship will sail to Philadelphia for its first coal cargo.

Orphan's Home Outing Set At Kennebec Yacht Club
A special committee decided at Kennebec yacht club last night to hold the annual outing for the Orphans Home children this Saturday afternoon. The trip begins at 12 30 from the club house in motor boats lent by club members. The party will sail to Riggs ville where E A Williams will welcome the children. They will enjoy games on his grounds followed by a picnic lunch.

Last Friday E B Manning, summer resident at Indian Point, lost bearings in dense fog and ran his launch onto a ledge in Sagadahoe Bay. The boat overturned, but Manning swam ashore after his milk cans, pocketbook with forty dollars, and watch were recovered.
