Phippsburg Launches Schooner James M. Hall

In Phippsburg a new schooner named James M. W. Hall is launched with a Boston party aboard the Virginia. Capt. Jack Haskell will command. vessel details include 157 feet length, 491 tons net, 572 gross, built for Rogers and Webb. Attending are Hall family members, local residents, and guests from Deer Isle and New Bedford.

Launching of U S Destroyer at Bath Iron Works

On a bright August day a large Bath crowd gathered to witness the launch of the U S destroyer Davis at Bath Iron Works. Elizabeth Davis, sponsor and granddaughter of Rear Admiral C H Davis, christened the vessel with a silver champagne bottle as officials and dignitaries watched from the platform and nearby roped area. The Seguin tug attended the launch, and the ship slid down the ways within 30 seconds of readiness notes.

Davis destroyer contract set for completion in 21 months

The Davis destroyer contract dated Jan 30 1916 calls for completion in 21 months at $800000. Specifications list a 315 ft hull, four 4 inch rapid fire guns, four 21 inch torpedo tubes, oil fuel, Parsons turbines for 17000 shaft horsepower, bronze propellers, four smoke funnels, and a crew of 103 with detailed boiler and electrical setups. Georgetown's Great Fair Brings Largest Fair Yet

The Working League held its annual fair on a perfect weather day with decorations in yellow and green. Volunteers led by Mrs. William A. Todd and Miss Ethel B. Todd organized booths, entertainment, and a large collection of donations. The day closed with over twenty dollars in the altar collection, marking the best and biggest League event to date.
